THE GOLDEN POWER OF SILENCE

THE GOLDEN POWER OF SILENCE

When we talk of silence we tend to think of it being outside of us: a quiet park, or room. But we also know how loud and clamouring our thoughts and feelings can be even when we do finally find a quiet spot in which to rest awhile.

So I am talking here of silence within the self.

When we are able to cultivate and engineer a silence, or at least a perfect quietness or stillness within the self, a wonderful ‘wellness’ ensues. All the natural intelligence of the mind-body kicks into action, its cells glistening like the golden ripples on a lake.

So is it possible to cultivate such a state?

Yes:

To all those pockets of noise and sound and clamouring within the body-mind, simply annouce “Silence!” (firmly but gently). Keep saying it til all pockets are gently hushed and quelled. Go on – and that bit! Til all parts of the body-mind are in a beautiful quelled state.

*What does this tell us about silence-noise in body? It tells us that, without realising it, our constant inner analysis, worry, consternation and judgment are covering up something that is perfectly ok without our concern!Image
