It can only be the past that can colour and influence how you feel about the future, as well as about specific things in your life. For example if you have a ‘hot date’ coming up and you are ‘unreasonably nervous’ that can only be because of past ‘unhelpful’ experiences etching their way into the cinematographic film that is put through the PROJECTOR OF YOUR MIND.
So, how do we erase that, in order to rest easy about what is coming up? How do we take those aspects of the film out so that you can be Wholly Present and Loving to what is in front of you (eg. ‘the date’) without being unduly influenced by the past?
For it is only memory that can bleed into the present, into the future.
We can erase it by picking a few obvious times of where the past has ‘toppled’ our viewpoint about men (for example), past experiences that have been ‘unhealthy’ or ‘harmful’ in some way.
Then, in the total safety of the Present Moment, we can view the images of those memories (for images is ALL they are) and allow Love and Light into them; as we allow love/light into the images fully, the images will then evaporate and disappear, their ‘charge’ having been defused entirely; their toxicitiy tranquilised. As you allow this to happen completely and fully, the images are then given up, gone, and can no longer have a ‘pull’ on your mind in a particular direction or loaded bias.
In the same way you wouldn’t let a car run and run eventhough it was clearly making funny noises or coughing and spluttering, nor should we let our mind run injuriously in directions we are not happy with. And going in and tranquilising injurious memories of the past is a great way of doing this.
